The Best School on the Planet

Head Magnet is an optional school serving grades 6 to 8 with a direct pathway to Martin Luther King, Jr. Academic Magnet High School.

We provide a rigorous curriculum that offers a plethora of academic offerings that include multiple high school courses, world languages, and honors courses across all grade levels.

We currently serve 385 students but will grow to approximately 600 students by 2027 as we transition to Martin Luther King, Jr. Academic Magnet at Head.

How to Enroll at Head Magnet

Families must complete the MNPS Optional Schools application to be accepted. Enrollment decisions are made at the district level. Please refer to the District website for more information.

PTSA Information

Head Magnet has an award-winning and highly involved Parent-Teacher Student Association (PTSA) who contributes significantly to the school community and overall student experience.
